Board Member Participation Policy

This policy outlines the minimum expectations for service on the Board of Directors of the Roosevelt High School Alumni Association. It is based on the Association’s bylaws and is intended to provide a clear summary of the responsibilities that apply to every board member.

This policy was approved by the Board of Directors on September 18th, 2025.

Attend Meetings of the Board of Directors

  • Attend the three regular sessions of the Board each year, held in September, January, and May.
    • If you are unable to attend a meeting, you must notify the President or Secretary in advance.
    • Missing more than one regular session in a year, regardless of reason, may result in review of your Board membership.
  • Additional special meetings may be called as needed; Board members are expected to make every effort to attend.

Serve on Committees

  • Actively participate in the work of at least one standing or ad hoc committee each year.
    • This includes attending committee meetings, responding to communications, and completing tasks or assignments.
    • The level of activity may vary by committee: some operate year-round, while others focus on specific projects or seasons. Members are expected to contribute according to the cycle of their committee.
    • Specific expectations for participation are defined by the committee chair in conjunction with committee members.

Represent the Alumni Association

  • Serve as an ambassador for RHSAA in the community.
    • Share information about RHSAA events and initiatives with fellow alumni and your personal networks.
    • Make an effort to attend major alumni events such as the All-Class Picnic, Homecoming, and other school or alumni gatherings when possible.
  • Support fundraising efforts by helping secure donations, sharing campaigns within your networks, or assisting at fundraising events.
