Scholarships

The Roosevelt High School Alumni Association is excited to offer five $1,000 college scholarships to the Class of 2026. Applications are due on April 6th, 2026. The information below details the application and selection process.

Qualifications


Each applicant must meet the following:
  • Current Roosevelt High School student in Portland, OR
  • Senior, graduating with the Class of 2026
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, unweighted

Application


Each applicant must complete the following:
  • Two 250 word essays of the following prompts (taken from the OSAC application):
    1. What have you done for your family, school, or community that you care about the most and why?
    2. Describe a personal accomplishment, impactful change or experience that has occurred in your life. What skills and strengths were needed to respond, and what did you learn about yourself?
  • A single-sided, one page resume that includes GPA; other resume elements may include Community Service, Extracurricular Activities, Work Experience, Honors/Awards etc.
    1. Note: all personal identifying information will be blacked out before being turned over to the committee; items such as references or contact information can be excluded completely to accommodate other details.
  • Unofficial high school transcript. Must include 1st semester grades and GPA Summary.
    1. Note: unofficial transcript will only be used to confirm the three qualification points are met and are not turned over to the review committee.

Submission


Below is a link to our online application. A Google account is required to be able to upload your files and submit. Please read over your application fully before submitting as editing will not be allowed once the application is submitted.

Applications are due April 6th, 2026 at 11:59pm.

Once an application is submitted, an automated email will be sent to the applicant with a copy of their submission. Within 72 hours, a member of the committee will do a manual review to confirm the applicant meets qualifications and has included all required parts of the application. The reviewer will then email the applicant to confirm receipt of the application, or ask for additional information if required. Selection


The RHSAA has selected a committee of five alumni who will award this scholarship. The committee will complete a blind review of each application (identifying information will be removed from materials) and choose five winners based on both academic and personal achievement. In the event that additional information is required, students will be contacted via email and given 7 days to respond.

Award


The five students who are selected as winners will be notified via email by May 22nd, 2026.

The students will be presented with their award during the Senior Award Assembly before graduation.

Award recipients will be asked for permission to share a photo and a short summary of accomplishments and future plans with members of the RHSAA.
