Athletic History Researcher

Athletic Researcher

Time commitment 4-6 hours/month.

Participation will primarily be virtual, with occasional in-person committee meetings as available.

We are seeking 3 volunteers for this role.

Volunteers should have an interest in athletics and comfort researching statistics, records, and historical information related to sports.

Support the research and documentation of Roosevelt athletics across generations. Volunteers primarily focus on individual athletic achievement through the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee and occasionally on the team-based history through the History Committee, depending on interest. Careful review of records, statistics, and past achievements helps ensure athletes and teams are accurately represented and recognized.

Duties & Responsibilities

Conduct research on Roosevelt athletic history, including statistics, records, awards, and notable events.
Gather and verify information from yearbooks, archives, news sources, and direct outreach when needed.
Research individual athletes’ high school records, awards, and participation history.
Track post-graduation athletic careers and accomplishments for Hall of Fame consideration.
Attend any Athletic Hall of Fame Committee meetings or participate in Committee discussions.
Most conversations will take place via email, with occasional in-person meetings as available.
Collaborate closely with the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee. Share relevant research and findings with the History Committee as needed to ensure athletic records and recognition efforts remain aligned.
